Two CTD Officials Removed Over Alleged Links to Drug Suspect Anmol alias Pinky

Karachi (NYTODAY) – In a significant development within the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Karachi, two officials have been dismissed from service following allegations of past connections with a suspected drug trafficker, Anmol alias “Pinky,” who was recently arrested by Garden Police on charges of drug trafficking.

According to official sources, CTD Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Kafeel Awan and Constable Ali Qureshi were removed from their posts after an internal inquiry concluded that both officers had maintained contact with the accused in previous years. The disciplinary action was taken after investigators reviewed evidence and statements collected during the investigation process.

Officials familiar with the case stated that the inquiry was initiated shortly after Anmol alias Pinky’s arrest. During early questioning, suspicions emerged regarding certain law enforcement connections that may have existed between the suspect and individuals within the police department. As a result, both CTD personnel were taken into custody for questioning and their formal statements were recorded.

CTD sources revealed that investigators conducted a detailed forensic examination of the mobile phones belonging to both Kafeel Awan and Ali Qureshi. The digital analysis was aimed at identifying communication records, call logs, and messaging history that could indicate any form of association with the accused drug trafficker. In addition to the digital evidence, authorities also reviewed bank account records of both officials as part of a broader financial scrutiny.

According to the inquiry report, while direct criminal involvement was not conclusively established at this stage, sufficient evidence of prior contact and questionable association was found to warrant disciplinary action. Following the completion of the investigation, senior CTD authorities approved the dismissal of both officers from service.

Sources further added that ASI Kafeel Awan had previously been involved in an operation in which he arrested a motorcycle rider linked to Anmol alias Pinky several years ago. After that incident, it is believed that the connection between the officer and the suspect diminished. However, investigators still examined whether any indirect communication or renewed contact occurred later.

The case has raised concerns within law enforcement circles regarding internal accountability and potential links between officers and individuals involved in organized crime networks. Officials emphasized that strict action would continue against any personnel found violating departmental discipline or maintaining unauthorized relations with criminal elements.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring transparency within the CTD and strengthening internal monitoring systems to prevent similar incidents in the future. They also noted that the investigation into Anmol alias Pinky’s broader criminal network remains ongoing, with additional arrests and inquiries expected as evidence is further analyzed.

Meanwhile, the dismissed officers have not issued any public statement regarding the allegations. The case continues to develop as law enforcement agencies expand their investigation into possible connections between criminal groups and compromised officials within the system.

The CTD has assured that reforms and stricter oversight mechanisms will be introduced to maintain the credibility and effectiveness of counter-terrorism operations in the province.
