ISLAMABAD – Two men arrested in connection with the alleged gang rape of two sisters in Lahore’s Sundar area were killed during an alleged police encounter, according to law enforcement officials.
Authorities stated that the suspects, identified as Nasir and Mohiuddin, reportedly escaped from the custody of the Crime Control Department (CCD). Following their escape, a separate case was registered against them at the Model Town CCD police station.
Police said a raid was later carried out in Lahore’s Chohang area to recapture the accused. During the operation, an exchange of gunfire allegedly took place between the suspects’ accomplices and CCD personnel. Officials claimed the two suspects were killed by bullets fired by their own associates during the confrontation.
According to investigators, the victims — two sisters aged 27 and 21 — worked as domestic employees and were waiting for a rickshaw at a bus stop on the night of May 7 when they were allegedly abducted by three men.
Police said the women were forcibly taken to a flat where they were allegedly assaulted multiple times.
The case was registered on the complaint of the victims’ father, while authorities continue to investigate other aspects of the incident and search for additional suspects connected to the case.
