Shocking News: CCD Officer Killed in Target Attack in Gujrat

GUJRAT: A Crime Control Department (CCD) constable was killed on Thursday after suspected hardened criminals opened fire on him in Jalalpur Jattan, police said.

According to police officials, Constable Fiaz Shah was deployed in the Jalalpur Jattan circle and tasked with collecting intelligence on hardened criminals operating in the area. Another CCD team was trailing him from a distance at the time of the incident.

The attackers spotted the constable as he entered the locality and immediately opened fire, critically injuring him. He succumbed to his bullet wounds while being rushed to hospital. The suspects managed to flee from the scene.

Search Operation Launched

Following the incident, CCD and Gujrat district police cordoned off the area and launched a massive search operation to trace and arrest the culprits.

Punjab CCD chief Sohail Zafar Chatha took serious notice of the killing and directed concerned officials to arrest the suspects without delay. Gujranwala CCD Regional Officer SSP Rizwan Tariq, along with other senior officers, visited the crime scene. A team from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency also reached the location to collect evidence.

Victim’s Family

The body of Constable Fiaz Shah was shifted to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital. He was a resident of Jalalpur Jattan and is survived by his widow and three children, including a five-year-old son and a one-month-old daughter.

Police have initiated an investigation into the incident, though a formal FIR had not yet been registered at the time of reporting.

The killing highlights the risks faced by law enforcement personnel engaged in intelligence-based operations against hardened criminals in the region.
