Israel Detains Irish President’s Sister During Gaza-Bound Flotilla Raid

At least six Irish citizens, including Dr Margaret Connolly — sister of Irish President Catherine Connolly — were detained after Israeli forces intercepted the Global Solidarity Flotilla heading toward Gaza, according to organizers.

The activist group said participants had recorded pre-arrest videos, which were later released following the raid at sea.

Earlier reports stated that Israel had already deported 171 members linked to the Solidarity Flotilla campaign.

In one of the released videos, Dr Margaret Connolly claimed that if the footage was being viewed publicly, it meant she had been “kidnapped” by Israeli forces while aboard the flotilla vessel and taken into Israeli custody.

She added that she was proud to participate in what organizers described as the largest solidarity flotilla ever launched in support of Gaza.

The incident has drawn international attention as humanitarian groups continue efforts to challenge restrictions surrounding the Gaza Strip.
