Washington (NNI) – About 35 members of the US House of Representatives have introduced a new law.
Under which the traditional paths of employment and permanent residence in the United States after education for Indian and other foreign students may be severely affected. The proposed law is being called the H-1B Visa Abuse Elimination Act of 2026. According to this proposed law, a 3-year ban will be imposed on new H-1B visas, the annual quota is proposed to be reduced from 65,000 to 25,000, while the selection system will be based only on high salary instead of lottery. The law proposes to set a minimum annual salary of $200,000, ban the recruitment system through foreign companies, and also eliminate employment permission for the families of H-4 visa holders.
The proposed bill also includes a proposal to eliminate the optional practical training system for foreign students, which is currently considered an important means of working in the United States after education, and there is also talk of closing the path to permanent residence, i.e., a green card.
The proposed law has come from a political group that is considered to be in favor of strict immigration policies, according to this group, which believes that foreign students and workers are putting pressure on local citizens’ jobs and wages. According to international media reports, Indian students will be the most affected by the passage of this bill, a development that is particularly worrying for thousands of Indian students who hope to pursue careers in the United States after higher education. According to reports, if these changes are approved, the traditional path to American education and employment could change significantly, while students are likely to move towards countries such as Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia.
US considering deploying hypersonic missiles against Iran for the first time
Washington (NNI) – US Central Command (CENTCOM) has requested the deployment of Dark Eagle missiles to the Middle East.
According to American media, for the first time, the United States will practically deploy a hypersonic missile. The Dark Eagle program has been delayed and has not yet been declared fully operational. The aim of the move is to target missile launchers deep inside Iran. According to American media, Russia and China have already introduced this type of technology. The reason for the move is that Iran has moved missile launchers beyond the range of “precision strike missiles”. The Iranian missile is capable of hitting targets at a distance of more than 300 miles. The request has not yet been made public.
According to the report, CENTCOM declined to comment on the matter. The Dark Eagle missile has a potential range of more than 1,725 miles. The missile travels at five times the speed of sound. The Dark Eagle has the ability to change course and evade defense systems. The Dark Eagle missile is estimated to cost around Rs 4.18 billion ($15 million). The battery for the system could cost around Rs 7.53 billion ($2.7 billion).
