ISLAMABAD – According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Syed Asim Munir, has arrived in Tehran along with a high-level delegation. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is also accompanying the delegation, signalling the importance of the visit at both military and political levels.

The visit comes at a critical time as diplomatic efforts continue to gain momentum between Iran and the United States. Officials have described Pakistan’s role as constructive and facilitative, aimed at reducing tensions and encouraging peaceful negotiations. The presence of senior leadership reflects Pakistan’s commitment to playing a balanced and neutral role in regional affairs.

Upon arrival in Tehran, the delegation was warmly received by Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, along with other high-ranking officials. The reception highlighted the strong diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Iran and set the stage for a series of important meetings.

According to Iranian media reports, multiple high-level discussions are scheduled during the visit. These meetings are expected to focus on preparations for the next phase of talks, confidence-building measures, and ways to ensure a sustainable ceasefire framework. Both sides are likely to explore diplomatic channels that could help bridge gaps between Tehran and Washington.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) has indicated that the second round of negotiations between Iran and the United States may take place in Islamabad. If confirmed, this development would further enhance Pakistan’s position as a key mediator and host for crucial international dialogue.

Analysts believe that Pakistan’s involvement could play a vital role in de-escalating tensions and promoting long-term stability in the region, especially amid ongoing geopolitical challenges.
