Islamabad (nytoday): Fresh details have surfaced regarding the transfer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital in Islamabad.
According to informed sources, Imran Khan was taken to PIMS during the intervening night between Saturday and Sunday for a medical procedure carried out under strict security arrangements. A senior doctor at PIMS, quoted by Dawn newspaper, confirmed that the former premier remained at the hospital for some time while the procedure was performed. The doctor further revealed that unusual activity was observed at the hospital late Saturday night, prior to Imran Khan’s arrival. During this period, operation theatres and recovery wards were placed under complete security control.
Meanwhile, PTI has expressed serious concerns over Imran Khan’s health, claiming that a dangerous blockage has developed in a vein of his right eye, posing a significant risk to his eyesight. The party stated that he has been diagnosed with Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO), a serious eye condition that can lead to permanent vision loss if not treated promptly.
PTI leaders have alleged that the Adiala Jail administration is pressuring for treatment to be conducted inside the jail, despite medical experts stating that the condition requires an operation theatre and specialised medical facilities unavailable at the prison. The party also claimed that, in violation of Islamabad High Court orders, Imran Khan’s personal physician has so far not been allowed to examine him.
The party has demanded an immediate hearing of the petition regarding Imran Khan’s medical examination, pending since August 2025. PTI has also called for permission for his family and close associates to meet him and for the provision of timely, adequate, and transparent medical care in line with doctors’ recommendations.
