Faisalabad (NYTODAY): The Lahore High Court has taken significant steps in the case concerning the suspension of the license of YouTuber Rajab Butt’s lawyer, Mian Ali Ashfaq. The court issued a notice to the Vice Chairman of the Punjab Bar Council and requested all relevant records related to the matter.

The case was heard by Justice Malik Owais Khalid, with Shazab Mirza and other lawyers representing the petitioner. During proceedings, the court questioned whether a lawyer’s license could be suspended without prior notice or a hearing.

Representing the Punjab Bar Council, the lawyer argued that the petition was not admissible and suggested that the petitioner should approach the appropriate forum. Meanwhile, the petitioner’s lawyer contended that the suspension was carried out by the executive committee, which lacks the authority to take such action. He argued that only the Punjab Bar Council tribunal has the power to suspend a lawyer’s license, and that the suspension was therefore invalid.

In response, the court issued a notice to the Vice Chairman of the Punjab Bar Council regarding the petition and the request for a stay order. The court has adjourned further hearing on the matter until January 6.

The petition seeks a declaration that the suspension is null and void and requests the restoration of the lawyer’s license.
