Islamabad (NYToday) — Further details have surfaced regarding the transfer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital.
According to informed sources, Imran Khan’s admission to PIMS has been independently confirmed. A senior doctor at the hospital, quoted by Dawn newspaper, stated that Imran Khan was brought to PIMS during the intervening night between Saturday and Sunday for a medical procedure, amid strict security arrangements. The doctor revealed that the procedure took a considerable amount of time and that unusual activity was observed at the hospital late Saturday night prior to his arrival. During this period, operation theatres and recovery areas were fully secured.
Meanwhile, PTI has expressed serious concern over Imran Khan’s health, claiming that a dangerous blockage has developed in a vein in his right eye, posing a significant risk to his eyesight. According to the party, he has been diagnosed with Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO), a severe eye condition that can lead to permanent vision loss if not treated promptly.
PTI has alleged that the Adiala Jail administration is pressing for treatment to be conducted within the jail premises, despite medical experts stating that the condition requires specialised facilities and an operation theatre, which are not available inside the jail. The party further claims that, despite clear orders from the Islamabad High Court, Imran Khan’s personal physician has still not been permitted to examine him.
Additionally, PTI has demanded the immediate hearing of a petition related to Imran Khan’s medical examination, which has reportedly been pending since August 2025. The party has also called for allowing meetings with his family and close associates and ensuring that he receives timely, adequate, and appropriate medical care in accordance with legal and humanitarian standards.
