Islamabad (nytoday): Venezuela’s acting President Delcy Rodríguez has voiced strong frustration over what she described as persistent interference by the United States, stating that Washington’s instructions and pressure have become intolerable for her government.

According to international media reports, Rodríguez made the remarks while addressing oil sector workers in the coastal city of Puerto La Cruz. Speaking candidly, she said that repeated US involvement in Venezuela’s political affairs has crossed acceptable limits and is no longer bearable. She stressed that Venezuela must be allowed to resolve its internal political differences independently, without external dictates or coercion.

Rodríguez is currently navigating a highly sensitive political landscape. On one side, she faces pressure from supporters of former President Nicolás Maduro, while on the other, she must maintain a working relationship with the United States, which has recognised her as the country’s interim leader. This delicate balance has placed her administration under constant strain.

The acting president also addressed US demands related to Venezuela’s oil sector, including calls to restore production. She warned that the nation has already paid a heavy price in the past due to authoritarianism and extremist policies, adding that Venezuela cannot endure further external pressure or economic strain.

It is worth noting that in early January, the United States detained former President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, transferring them to the US to face multiple legal charges. Since then, political and economic pressure from Washington on Caracas has intensified.

While Rodríguez has repeatedly asserted that the United States is not the authority over Venezuelan affairs, she has so far avoided direct confrontation with Washington, opting instead for cautious diplomacy amid an increasingly challenging situation.
