Faisalabad (nytoday): Actress and television host Dua Malik has, for the first time, spoken publicly about facing an unpleasant experience similar to the casting couch during her career. She revealed that the individual involved was a highly influential personality in Pakistan.
Dua Malik made these remarks during a podcast, where she candidly discussed the realities of the entertainment industry and aspects of her personal life. She shared that she does not want her children to pursue careers in showbiz, which is why she moved them to the United States to keep them away from what she described as a toxic environment.
While speaking about casting couch practices, Dua initially said that she and her sister, actress Humaima Malik, had always believed they were strong enough to say “no.” According to her, many young women in the industry give in due to pressure or vulnerability, but both sisters maintained firm boundaries throughout most of their careers.
She explained that during childhood she was relatively shy, whereas Humaima was more fearless, which helped them navigate difficult situations in showbiz. However, Dua later admitted that there was a time when she herself had to face such harassment, an incident that negatively affected her professional journey.
Dua Malik chose not to disclose further details, stating that the person involved is a major figure in Pakistan. She said she would never make the matter public to protect her family. Although she currently resides in the United States, she noted that her family is still in Pakistan, which is why she prefers not to discuss the issue any further.
