Mumbai (nytoday): Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana has revealed an interesting fact about his super hit film Andha Dhan, stating that he initially charged only one rupee for the project. In a recent interview, the actor explained that he chose this unconventional approach because he strongly believed in the film’s concept and success.
Ayushmann shared that after Andha Dhan achieved remarkable success—particularly its extraordinary reception in China—he later received a share of the film’s profits. He emphasised that his priority has always been the overall success of a film rather than a hefty upfront fee.
At a time when the film industry is debating rising actor remunerations and inflated production budgets, with some filmmakers claiming that star fees can consume 60 to 70 per cent of a film’s total budget, Ayushmann believes he stands apart from this trend. He described himself as a producer-friendly actor who values creativity over money.
“For me, Saraswati comes before Lakshmi,” he said, adding that if a film performs well at the box office, the actor naturally deserves greater rewards. Ayushmann also mentioned that decisions regarding fee increases are handled by his management, as he considers himself more artistically inclined than financially focused. “I am a creative-minded Punjabi and don’t understand accounting matters very well,” he remarked.
