New Delhi (nytoday): A tragic incident has emerged from Lucknow, the capital of India’s Uttar Pradesh state, where a young woman who aspired to become a model reportedly died by suicide following emotional distress at home. The woman, identified as Tanu Singh, was living with her husband Rahul Shrivastava when the incident occurred on Wednesday evening.
According to Indian media reports, the situation unfolded during a casual family interaction in which relatives were joking with one another. During the exchange, Rahul allegedly made a remark referring to Tanu as a “monkey,” which deeply upset her. Following the comment, Tanu left the room and locked herself inside another room.
Tanu’s sister, Anjali, told police in her recorded statement that when family members noticed Tanu had not returned, they attempted to open the door but received no response. Peering through a window, they discovered her hanging from a noose. Rahul reportedly broke open the door and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.
Police officials stated that preliminary investigations suggest no prior history of conflict but noted that Tanu was highly sensitive and deeply passionate about pursuing a career in modelling. Authorities have launched further inquiries to determine whether emotional distress or domestic factors contributed to the tragedy.
The incident has reignited discussions about mental health awareness, emotional sensitivity, and the impact of seemingly casual remarks within households. Police have urged families to remain mindful of language and emotional well-being, especially when aspirations and self-esteem are involved.
