Mumbai (NYTODAY): Indian actress Ananya Panday has reportedly reacted strongly to the selection of Pakistani cricketer Abrar Ahmed in England’s The Hundred.

According to reports circulating on social media, Ananya Panday allegedly expressed her displeasure over Abrar Ahmed’s inclusion and even called for a boycott of the franchise. Some claims also suggested that she destroyed her Reliance Jio SIM card in protest. However, it is important to note that there has been no official confirmation from the actress regarding these claims, and they remain unverified.

The controversy stems from Abrar Ahmed’s reported selection in the team linked to Indian-origin ownership, associated with Kavya Maran, in The Hundred League. His inclusion has sparked strong reactions among a section of Indian social media users, with many expressing dissatisfaction.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from 21 July to 16 August, attracting players from around the world.

Meanwhile, Abrar Ahmed’s participation is still uncertain, as he will require a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Pakistan Cricket Board. Due to potential national commitments, there is a possibility that he may not be granted permission to take part in the league.

It is worth mentioning that Abrar Ahmed last appeared in a Test match against the West Indies in January 2025.
