Majeed Chaudhry, head of the OZ Group, has emerged as a prominent name in Pakistan cricket after acquiring ownership rights to the most expensive team in Pakistan Super League (PSL) history. The OZ Group secured the Sialkot franchise for 10 years at a record price of Rs 185 crore for PSL Season 11.

Majeed Chaudhry personally attended the bidding ceremony and earned the distinction of purchasing the eighth and costliest team ever added to the PSL.

The bidding event was held at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad, where two new teams—Hyderabad and Sialkot—were sold for a combined amount of Rs 3.6 billion, marking a major milestone in the league’s expansion.

Background of Majeed Chaudhry

Majeed Chaudhry is the owner of the OZ Group and the PSL franchise Faisalabad. He lived in Australia for several years before returning to Pakistan two years ago.

Speaking to nytoday News prior to the bidding, Chaudhry said that even while living abroad, he always wanted to contribute something meaningful to his homeland. He described cricket as the one sport that unites the entire nation and revealed that his passion for the game dates back to his childhood.

Chaudhry further disclosed that he had been working on acquiring a new PSL team for the past one and a half years. Addressing public perceptions, he remarked that while many people are leaving the country, he chose to return to Pakistan to invest and play a role in its future.

His record-breaking purchase reflects both his confidence in the PSL’s growth and his commitment to Pakistan’s cricketing and sporting landscape.
