Dubai (NYTODAY) — The United Arab Emirates has reported that its air defence systems were swiftly activated following a series of missile and drone attacks allegedly launched by Iran. Authorities confirmed that multiple regions across the country engaged defensive measures to neutralise incoming threats and safeguard key infrastructure.

According to regional media reports, the UAE Ministry of Defense stated that four missiles were fired toward the country. Of these, three were successfully intercepted and destroyed mid-air by advanced anti-missile systems, preventing significant damage. The fourth missile reportedly fell harmlessly into the sea without causing any casualties or destruction.

Officials explained that the loud explosions heard in different parts of the UAE were a result of these interception operations. The ministry reassured residents that these sounds were linked to defensive actions and not direct impacts on populated areas.

In a separate incident, an Iranian drone targeted an oil facility located in the industrial zone of Fujairah. The strike caused a major fire at the site, raising concerns over the safety of critical energy infrastructure. Emergency response teams were quickly deployed to contain the blaze and prevent further escalation.

Authorities confirmed that three individuals were injured in the drone attack. The victims are believed to be Indian nationals working in the facility. They were promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment. Officials have stated that their condition is stable, though further updates are awaited.

Meanwhile, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strong condemnation of the attacks, describing them as deliberate and provocative. The statement emphasised that such actions represent a serious escalation and pose a direct threat to the nation’s security and regional stability.

The ministry further asserted that the UAE reserves the full right to respond to these attacks in accordance with international law. It stressed that protecting the country’s sovereignty and ensuring the safety of its citizens remain top priorities.
