A tragic and mysterious incident unfolded on Valentine’s Day in Noida, located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, where the bodies of a young couple were discovered inside a parked car on a busy highway. According to local media reports, passers-by alerted police after hearing gunshots coming from the vehicle.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they found the man in the driver’s seat wearing a seat belt and the woman in the passenger seat. Both had sustained gunshot wounds and were bleeding. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed that both individuals had died. Police later identified the victims as 26-year-old Rekha and 32-year-old Smith.
Initial findings suggest that the man allegedly shot his girlfriend before turning the gun on himself. Investigators recovered a pistol and several spent bullet shells from inside the car, and the vehicle was taken into custody for forensic examination. The area was sealed off while forensic teams collected evidence.
Police officials said the couple had been in a long-term relationship, and their families were aware of it. A missing persons report had reportedly been filed by relatives just a day earlier. Authorities also revealed that a message found on WhatsApp allegedly showed the man expressing anger over the woman’s reported decision to marry someone else. In the message, he reportedly threatened to harm her and himself.
However, the man’s family has raised doubts about the suicide theory. They claim the couple may have been targeted due to caste-related tensions and allege that the woman’s family had previously opposed the relationship. According to them, threatening calls were received from unknown international numbers, and the car’s location near Salarpur village has raised further suspicion.
Police stated that the case is being investigated from all possible angles. Officers are examining digital evidence, family statements, and forensic findings to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the couple’s deaths. Authorities have assured that all claims, including those made by the families, will be thoroughly investigated before any final conclusions are reached.
