PM Stresses Federal–Provincial Unity to Restore Peace in KP

ISLAMABAD (nytoday): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has emphasised the importance of strong coordination between the federal and provincial governments to ensure peace, development and public welfare in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, urging the provincial administration to intensify efforts to improve law and order.

During a meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Monday, the Prime Minister underlined that close cooperation between the federation and the provinces is vital for national progress and effective public service delivery. He said the provincial government must further strengthen its institutions to counter terrorism and ensure lasting stability in the province.

The Prime Minister reiterated that the federal and provincial governments would continue joint efforts for the complete eradication of terrorism. He stressed that maintaining law and order and safeguarding public welfare are constitutional responsibilities of the provincial government, which must be fulfilled with determination and efficiency.

Shehbaz Sharif noted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa holds a significant place in the federation and assured that the federal government would continue to extend full support for the prosperity of the province within the constitutional framework. He also highlighted the need for concrete steps in key sectors such as health and education, stating that the provincial government is fully empowered to take initiatives for improving the quality of life of the people.

The Prime Minister assured cooperation in development projects, infrastructure improvement, education, healthcare and job creation, adding that the federal government believes in taking all provinces forward together through balanced and equal development. He concluded that national unity, stability and prosperity can only be achieved through mutual consultation, coordination and sustained cooperation between all tiers of government.
