The Vice President further stressed that, following the alleged US military operation, Venezuela will take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and ensure the security of its national resources. She categorically rejected any foreign occupation or exploitation of the country’s assets.
Her statement comes in response to claims by former US President Donald Trump, who announced that the United States would temporarily assume control over Venezuela’s administration and allow US oil companies to operate in the country. Speaking at a press conference in Florida, Trump also announced criminal charges against President Maduro and stated that he and his wife were being transferred to New York to face justice. Trump described the mission in Caracas as a “major military operation” showcasing the full capabilities of US air, land, and naval forces.
