The United States has issued a security alert for its citizens living in Pakistan. The US Embassy in Pakistan said in a statement that it has temporarily restricted the movement of embassy staff due to concerns about possible protests. According to media reports, the embassy has warned that protests are likely in different parts of the country on March 6, in view of which US personnel have been instructed to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution. The statement also advised US citizens in Pakistan to avoid large gatherings and crowded places. They are also advised to monitor local media and current events and regularly review their security situation.

The embassy further said that US citizens should not unnecessarily highlight themselves and keep their identity documents with them at all times so that they can be presented if needed.
